We understand Private Kindergarten is a significant investment in your child’s educational development and hence we take the academics very seriously. The class is taught by a certified Teacher with strong prior Elementary School experience. Classroom ratios are kept low and the curriculum employed is one of the strongest K thru 12 level that is available by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.
Our Private Kindergarten program is for children that are 5 by October 31st of the current school year.
The Private Kindergarten program at Oak Brook School will be supported by Harcourt curriculum in: Language Arts, Math, Writing, Science and Social Studies. All curriculum will be hands on as well as through digital technology via our smart board technology. The Private-K curriculum is built for the digital age; playful and effective programs integrate key kindergarten learning objectives into fun, hands-on activities. Their programs increase each student’s sense of independence, self-reliance, and self-confidence so they are ready for first grade.
The small class size of our Private Kindergarten allows us to utilize many teaching methods to learn necessary skills children must master in Kindergarten. We will ensure that your child receives a well rounded curriculum as they begin their first year of elementary school. Learning will happen in a nurturing environment in a positive and encouraging way.
The children will work as a class, in small groups, and one on one with the teacher. We will learn by direct instruction, group work, stations, and by exploration. Group work will require listening and responding to oral directions. We will use the smart board, white board, individual white boards and papers, and many hands on manipulatives.
Included in your tuition, your child will receive enrichment specials classes throughout the day, including Spanish, Music, and STEAM classes. These are separate instructors and age-appropriate curriculum in addition to regular classroom activities. Kindergarteners will also enjoy recess time outside on the playground (weather permitting) and gymnasium.
